Natrona County School District
• The Natrona County School District has faith in the young minds
of tomorrow. Our 2,500 faculty and staff members are committed to
providing excellence in education and believe that the most productive
education occurs when school staff, parents and students work
collaboratively toward a common goal: success for the future.
• Wyoming demonstrates its commitment to education by spending
nearly $1.5 billion out of its state budget on education, which helps in
funding tutors, instructional facilitators and other classified support staff,
summer school and extended day opportunities, among many others.
Wyoming also is notably ahead of other states in dollars spent per
student. The state’s financial commitment, coupled with a statewide
average of 13.1 students per teacher, ensures individualized and
high-quality attention for all students.
• The Natrona County School District serves Casper and its
surrounding areas with a total of 27 elementary schools, seven
junior high/middle schools and four senior high schools. Careful
maintenance, new additions and complete remodeling projects
have kept the schools, libraries, playgrounds and athletic
facilities modern and safe.
• As shown by high national test scores, Natrona County students
are well-prepared for higher education as well as direct placement
into the workforce. NCSD also joins forces with Casper College to
provide students opportunities to obtain free college credits while
still in high school.
• NCSD puts special emphasis on courses in foreign languages,
math/science, music/arts and instructional technology. NCSD also
addresses the needs of at-risk students and is considered a leader
in the field of special education. |

Casper College is one of the largest and most comprehensive
community colleges in the region. Students may choose from more
than 70 degree programs and 30 certificate programs. Casper College
helps students transfer to universities throughout the country. More than
10 separate national accreditations underscore the quality of education
students receive at Casper College. Classes and laboratories average
between 15 and 20 students, but are often smaller. Since most
instructors are full-time employees, they are accessible before
and after class.
Casper College’s "participation rate,” the percentage of citizens in
the service area, who take classes, is among the highest in the country.
Each year about 6.5 percent of residents in the College’s service
area take a credit class at Casper College. This compares to a
statewide average of 5.8 percent and a national average of 4 percent.
Thousands more are served through ABE/GED services, the Center for
Training and Development, the Goodstein Foundation Library,
continuing education classes, theatre productions, museums,
conferences, special events and innovative educational
programs/partnerships. |
